Facilities
Since the acquisition of Cipan by SUANFARMA, the numbers of the company have undergone a very positive change, highlighting on them the investment made to adapt the facilities to legal, environmental requirements and technological adaptation to be competitive in international markets.
The increase in workforce has allowed us to successfully carry out the different challenges that have been defined since 2016, and the entry of new molecules through a CMO strategy that allows our clients to access the market without having a global structure to developing it.
Cipan has comprehensive expertise in the chemistry of Tetracyclines and other complex molecules which endows CIPAN with a robust technological platform that can be used to leverage our clients’ projects and hence their competitiveness.
Synthesis

Cipan is designed to accommodate any typical synthesis process since it has the necessary elements to carry out complex reactions, hydrogenations, distillations, phase separations L-L and S-L, crystallizations and isolation of intermediates and finishes by centrifugation, Nutsche filtration, as well as drying in rotary vacuum equipment, fluid bed dryers and static dryers.
Depending on the new technologies required to undertake a specific process (carbonliations, cryogenic reactions, reactions in Titanium, Hastelloy or special alloy equipment), Cipan has a model for technical analysis of requirements and a team of professionals in charge of managing the investment projects necessary to install and qualify equipment, as well as to validate the processes undertaken in this new equipment.
CIPAN has 4 chemical synthesis units with a total reaction capacity of over 600,000 Lt.

Fermentation

The Cipan team is specialized in the fermentation of microorganisms from the preparation of the inoculum (either in liquid suspension or in culture trays) to the cultivation of large volumes of fermentation. It has various technologies to ensure proper separation of the bimoase from the culture medium such as Rotary Vacuum Filters or liquid-liquid separators. Furthermore, as an expert company in chemical synthesis processes, we have all the capabilities for the purification of the molecules of interest once the primary separation has been carried out.
The fermentation plants have a wide range of equipment with sizes from Lab scale (2 Lt), pilot scale (500-10,000 Lt) to full industrial scale (up to 100,000 Lt) with a total capacity of 860,000 Lt. Therefore, Cipan has one of the largest fully GMP compliant fermentation facilities of its kind in Europe.
