Tetracycline HCI
Tetracycline is used to treat infections caused by bacteria including pneumonia and other respiratory tract infections; some infections of the skin, eyes, lymphatic system, digestive system, reproductive system and urinary system; and some other infections that spread through ticks, lice, mites, and infected animals. It is also used with other medications to treat acne. Tetracycline is also used to treat pests and tularemia (serious infections that can be spread on purpose as part of a bioterrorism attack). It can also be used in patients who cannot be treated with penicillin to treat certain types of food poisoning, and anthrax (a serious infection that can be deliberately spread as part of a bioterrorism attack). Tetracycline belongs to a kind of medications called tetracycline antibiotics. It works by preventing the multiplication and spread of bacteria.
Oxytetracycline HCI
This antibiotic is used in pneumonia, enteritis, kerato conjunctivitis, arthritis, metritis, omphalitis, leptospirosis, actinobacillosis, anaplasmosis, mastitis, pietin, infections in general, control of infectious diseases that affect bovines, sheep, goats and pigs, caused by germs sensitive to Oxytetracycline. It has activity against Gram positive and Gram negative bacteria, including some mycoplasma and rickettsial species.
Lymecycline
Derived from Tetracycline, Lymecycline is a broad spectrum tetracycline antibiotic. It is approximately 5,000 times more soluble than tetracycline base and is unique among tetracyclines in that it is absorbed by the active transport process through the intestinal tissue making use of the same fast and efficient mechanism by which carbohydrates are absorbed. The high level of absorption of Lymecycline allows it to be used at lower doses than the other tetracyclines; The standard dose of 408 mg is equivalent to 300 mg of tetracycline base. and in its action level at 600 mg of tetracycline hydrochloride. Lymecycline, like other antibiotics, has been shown to be effective on a wide range of bacteria, and its good absorption profile makes it preferable to the use of tetracycline for the treatment of moderate to severe acne, and is usually prescribed for 8 weeks, but If no noticeable changes are seen within three weeks, other alternatives should be considered.
Minocycline HCI
Antibiotic from the tetracycline group. As a result of its longer half-life, it achieves plasma activities 2-4 times greater than its congeners (150 mg of minocycline demonstrated about 6 times greater activity than 250 mg of tetracycline within 24-48 h). It is mainly used in the treatment of acne and rosacea, since the single dose of 100 mg / day of this drug leads to a much greater therapeutic adherence than the four daily doses required with tetracycline and oxytetracycline. While its antibiotic spectrum has been shown to be much higher than that of the other members, including activity against Neisseria meningitidis, its prophylactic use has not been authorized due to its adverse effects (dizziness and vertigo). It can be used to treat Acinetobacter infections, resistant to multiple drugs. The other uses of Minocycline are shared with the other members of the Tetracyclines group.
